Progress on summer exhibition planning

It has been a busy time for The Strathaven John Hastie Museum Trust over the last 10 days.

Firstly, there was a very successful Collection Day on Saturday  21st April where a number of locals brought a great selection of memorobilia which will be on display during the exhibition.

On the same day, Sainsburys very kindly allowed us a small area in the foyer to display some of our roll up banners from last year’s exhibition whilst members of our Trust informed shoppers of our progress towards owning our own museum space as well as gathering signatures for our petition ‘Strathaven deserves its own Museum’.. Members of the Trust were also able to make shoppers aware of our next exhibition ‘EDUCATING AVONDALE’.

Last week, a meeting was held to discuss the information, photographs and memorobillia received from our local schools, churches and other organisations. Plans were made for the new information to be displayed during this year’s exhibition.

Last night, we held our normal monthly meeting and heard about further progress in our journey towards owning our own museum building as well as an update on the forth-coming exhibition.

Keep a look out on Facebook for more information in the run up to our summer exhibition EDUCATING AVONDALE.
