Strathaven sits on the A71, the main route between the west coast of Scotland and Edinburgh. It is within 4 miles of the M74 and is close to the local towns of East Kilbride and Hamilton.
Avondale has a long and diverse history including battles, links to the covenanters and castles and has developed over the years from weaving and agriculture into a lively community where there are many interesting and unusual events and festivals over the course of the year.
