THE STRATHAVEN JOHN HASTIE MUSEUM TRUST
Scottish Charity No. SC043189
PROPOSED COMMUNITY MUSEUM
An opportunity has arisen for the Trust to pursue the purchase of The Ballgreen Hall, Strathaven, by means of Public Asset Transfer, as a possible venue for a modern community museum. We are currently researching sources of potential funding.
Our Vision
A modern volunteer-run community museum
Located centrally
Self-financing with minimum maintenance costs
Rolling and flexible displays
Significant proportion of collection on display
Multi -purpose community spaces
Shop, reception and ticket office
Public toilets (during opening times)
Different from ‘traditional’ museums
Museum accreditation
In order to support our application, it is imperative that we can demonstrate a high level of community support, benefit and involvement.
We have therefore enclosed a questionnaire to give you the opportunity to show your support and to add your suggestions for what you would like to see in conjunction with a modern museum facility, as we hope, in The Ballgreen Hall.
As an individual, what facilities and features would you like to see included? Would your group/organisation/small starter business have use for some “community space” on a daily, weekly or monthly basis for meetings, classes or events?
