Our 2018 exhibition was formally opened by The Trust’s chairman, Gordon McAllan and the Rev William Stewart. Entertainment was provided by Strathaven Academy 6th year pupils -and classical guitarists – Lewis Sloan and Fraser Newton who entertained us throughout the evening and local lady, Rhona MacLeod, who sang some playground ditties.
The event was attended by Members and Friends of the Trust as well as invited guests from local organisations who had contributed materials and others who support the work of the Trust.
A great time was had by all reading through old school records, checking school photos for friends from their own school days and examining the materials and memorabilia on display. Each of the local primaries, the Academy and other organisations contributed information which is displayed around the room.
A great deal of work has been carried out over the past week – making the area spick and span, deciding the layout and what to include and then displaying the items.
